WHAT IS GIVE GREAT FALLS?

Give Great Falls (GGF) launched in 2019 with a clear and powerful mission: to connect generous donors with the local nonprofits working hard to make a difference in our community and the resources around us. As a dedicated giving platform, GGF offers a simple, meaningful way for people to support the causes that matter most to them in Great Falls. Each year during GGF’s annual week of giving, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists come together to uplift these organizations and help them continue their vital work. Missouri River Flyfishers (MRF) is hoping to win your support for an upcoming restoration project benefiting nearby fisheries.

WHY IS MRF PARTICIPATING?

MRF is raising funds for a restoration project on the North  Fork of the Smith River. Montana Trout Unlimited has pledged $5,000 and we are challenging YOU to help us match that amount!

The North Fork of the Smith River is an important trout fishery and supports conservation populations of Westslope Cutthroat Trout in some tributary streams. The project was identified as part of the recent Smith River Basin-wide Assessment, completed in December 2024. The project includes restoration of degradation that occurred from livestock grazing, agricultural encroachment, irrigation withdrawals, channel straightening, and infrastructure development. It will include developing off-channel watering to reduce grazing impacts, creating a riparian buffer, hardening livestock access points, and revegetating banks with willows. The Missouri River Flyfishers Trout Unlimited Chapter 406 is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Great Falls.
